What is Origami Studios?

First off, thanks for visiting my website. My name is Ben Trainor, and I'm a West-Tennessee-based artist.

In business terms, Origami Studios could be described as a production company, record label, book publisher, or some kind of media conglomerate. For me, it's an umbrella to center my creative goals.

It started with my bedroom music project, Paper Watch, expanded to film and theater scores, and now includes my passions for photography and poetry. I'm usually writing and recording my next album, composing a freelance score, or designing a photo book in my head, often at the same time.

Why the name? At its core, the art of origami focuses one's attention on a single, simple piece of paper. Through the process of forming that paper into something more complex, the artist becomes more familiar with its color, texture, and weight and thereby appreciates the paper more.
